Rock'N August is on this week! It is an international car show and music festival fundraiser for the Alberta Diabetic Foundation. It is held in St. Albert, Alberta, between August 4 - August 7, 2010. Check out the website for details. When you go down to the festival, be sure to stop at the ADF table to purchase one of my funky diabetic pouches.
So far the weather has been perfect, hopefully it stays for the weekend.

The Reason...
I found out that I had type 1 diabetes when I was 16 years old... that was half my life ago. Since the beginning (pretty much), I decided that this disease would not discourage me, but instead give me a reason to live better. I wanted health and I wanted control of my own disease. I measure my success by the fact I am without any complications after 16 years, I have relatively short doctor visits, and I have recently had two healthy boys. This disease has also put a desire in my heart to make a difference in other diabetic's lives. So, this is the reason for my blog.
I carry my glucometer with me everywhere I go and I have always wished the pouch wasn't soooo ugly. One day I thought I should do something about it. Keeping with a simple design, I have created a pouch made from funky material to carry my glucometer. I hope other diabetic woman will appreciate an "accessory" for their glucometer and diabetic kids will be more excited to carry their glucometer in a "thomas the train" or "butterfly" pouch.

Just my way to give back and hopefully inspire other diabetics.
